10:00am
The Western North Conference Lay Organization met Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Springdale AME Church in Burlington, North Carolina. The meeting was called to order by Bro. Dwight Patterson, president, who gave way to our chaplain, Sis. Myrtle Mayo. The Lay Hymn began the devotion followed by the repeating of the Lord’s Prayer in unison. Sis Mayo provided a brief word from the heart reflecting, God’s Word is what’s needed for the healing and the spirit. The responsive reading of the Lay Litany concluded our devotion service. Bro. Johnson noted that WE should stop SAYING the Lord’s Prayer but PRAY the Lord’s Prayer.
Rev. Shirley DeCoster, host pastor, graciously welcomed the conference to Springdale followed by Sis. Sherry Thompson the host Lay President. The roll call of officers was conducted by Sis. Boneita Page, recording secretary. This was followed by the reading of the minutes that were motioned and second by Bro. Johnson and Hooker, respectively.

Devine shared the wonderful experience she was given during the end of the year graduation. She remarked on the opportunity each could have by dining on the campus. The meals are provided by the culinary department. Please support this endeavor whenever you have the opportunity. The suggestion of continually making donations of supplies to the corps was made and Bethel-Greensboro, Emmanuel-Durham and Saint Paul-Raleigh volunteered to be a donation center.
The president then opened the floor to the elected delegates and alternates to give highlights of the Biennial. Those who spoke were: Starr Battle, Bettie Duell, Wilbert Hooker, Kennetra Irby and Dwight Patterson. Bro. Hooker brought to the body that Sis.
