VISABILITY

In order to increase membership, you have to be visible to the public.  Here are some suggestions to aid your visibility.

1. Place notices in local newspapers - Utilize your Lay Director of Public Relations

2.  Make sure you are in the Yellow and White Pages Directory (Phone Books and Website - Manta)

3.  Develop a Radio and/or Television Ministry

4.  Have a website (there are free ones) - Place sermons and current events on website

5.  Utilitze the Youth of the Church - Hold events and invite the community

6.  Evangelize - Canvas your community with brochures

7.  Have an old-fashion Tent Revival - Current members need to be revived

YOUTH INVOLVEMENT

It is very important to keep the young people involved in church activity.  Although we have YPD, ACE and RAYAC, there needs to be much more hands on involvement.  If you do not have a Boy Scout and Girl Scout unit at your church, you need to consider it.  If your church is too small to have a unit, partner with area churches.  This way you will also get the leadership you will need.

Make sure the young people are involved with the usher, steward and trustee boards.  The Youth Choir is fine, but they need to do more than just sing. There is a Youth component to the Lay Organization. Let the Lay Youth Representative play an active role in decisions that are made within the Lay and the church as a whole.

If you have a Media Ministry, add the young people to it.  They are technology savy and would be a great asset to this ministry.  If you currently do not have a website, let a young person take the lead (with adult supervision) and let them develop one for your church. Let them learn to work the sound board and make the videos.  Hold them accountable.
